Krishi
Vigyan Kendra, Faridkot was sanctioned by the Indian Council of
Agricultural Research in August 1992 and was established in
April 1995 under the administrative control of Directorate of
Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
This centre has a team of scientists and supporting staff for
meticulously planning and organizing vocational scientific
trainings. It owns 40 acres of farm area lying at two locations,
28 acres at Raja Harinder Singh Seed Farm, Sikhanwala and rest
at Regional Station, Faridkot.
This KVK is established
for the benefit of various sections of rural society. The KVK
campus is located at about 120 kilometers distance from the main
PAU, Ludhiana campus. Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an
innovative science based institution which imparts trainings
viz.: Practising Farmers/Farm women (short term-1-2 days),
Vocational Trainings for Rural Youth (3-7 days) in the
disciplines of Crop Production, Plant Protection, Horticulture,
Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture Engineering, Animal Science
and Home Science for farmers, farm women and unemployed rural
youths.
